Tour Details

Kalash people is a small community of pagans on the territory on Islamic state. They are considered unique among the peoples of Pakistan, and also considered to be Pakistan’s smallest ethnoreligious group, practising a religion which some scholars characterize as a form of animism, and other academics as “a form of ancient Hinduism”.

The culture of the Kalash people is unique and differs in many ways from the many contemporary Islamic ethnic groups surrounding them in northwestern part of Pakistan (Rumbur, Birir and Bumburet Valleys). Kalash mythology and folklore has been compared to that of ancient Greece, but they are much closer to Indo-Iranian (pre-Zoroastrian-Vedic) traditions.

During a year there are 3 main Festivals in their community:

1. Spring Festival – Chilam Joshi – helds in the middle of May and dedicated to planting season.

2. Autumn Festival – Uchau, helds in the Middle of September during full moon and dedicated to harvesting, specially grape and walnuts.

3. Winter Festival – Chaumos – 7-22 December. It marks the end of the year’s fieldwork and harvest and involves much music, dancing, and the sacrifice of many goats.

Just choose the month and we will provide for you unforgettable tour according to this program!
