This tour is designed for travelers who enjoy cultural incursions and discoveries, exploring in depth some of the most spectacular pieces of heritage from Pakistan.

The itinerary of Pakistan UNESCO World Heritage tour crosses the country, from south to north will also include some extra places to visit:

  1. Thatta – Sindh Province – city of 14th century AD) – in the list of UNESCO from 1980.
  2. Mohenjo-Daro – Sindh Province – 2600 year BC – is in the list of UNESCO from 1980.
  3. Rahim Yar Khan – the city in South Punjab, near Cholistan Desert.
  4. Multan – the city of Punjab Province.
  5. Lahore – the capital of Punjab.
  6. Lahore Fort – assuming its present configuration during the 11th century, in the list of UNESCO from 1980.
  7. Shalimar Gardens in Lahore – constructed by Shah Jahan in 1641-1642 – in the list of UNESCO from 1981.
  8. Rohtas Fort – in Punjab Province, on the way from Lahore to Islamabad – 1541 year of building, in the list of UNESCO from 1997.
  9. Katas Raj Temple – 3th century BC – on the road from Lahore to Islamabad.
  10. Islamabad – the capital of Pakistan.
  11. Taxila complex – 25 km from Islamabad – 6th century BC Buddha complex, in the list of UNESCO from 1980 .
  12. Peshawar – the city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
  13. Takht-i-Bahi – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Mardan region – 46 year AD Buddha Tantra Monastery, in the list of UNESCO from 1980.

Day 1Karachi

☼ Meet & Greet at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.
☼ Transfer to the hotel.
☼ Excursion in Karachi.
☼ Transfer to the hotel for night stay.

Day 2Thatta – Mohenjo-daro

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Transfer to Makli Necropolis, Thatta. Makli Necropolis occupies 10 square km, housing approximately 500,000 to 1 million tombs. The site was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 as an “outstanding testament” to Sindhi civilization between the 14th and 18th centuries.
☼ Transfer to Mohenjo-daro. Mohenjo-daro was built in the 26th century BC, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
☼ Transfer to Rahim Yar Khan for night stay.

Day 3Rahim Yar Khan

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Visiting award wining Bhong mosque. It was designed and constructed over a period of nearly 50 years (1932–1982).
☼ Visiting a brick factory: experience the Post-colonial British brick-making technique with hands.
☼ Visiting a local village for photo walk and to explore local life.
☼ Sunset at Cholistan desert and Pakistani tea with camel milk.
☼ Dinner in a local restaurant with traditional food.
☼ Transfer to the hotel.

Day 4Multan & Harappa

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Departure for Multan by road.
☼ Visiting the mausoleums of Multan.
☼ Departure for Sahiwal for visiting Harappa (the site of the ancient city contains the ruins of a Bronze Age fortified city).
☼ Transfer to Lahore.
☼ Night stay at the hotel in Lahore.

Day 5Lahore

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Lahore city Excursions: Shalimar Gardens, Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosqu).
☼ The lowering of the flags ceremony at the Wagah border: something you will never see elsewhere.
☼ Dinner at the old Walled City with amazing view of Badshahi Mosque.
☼ Transfer to the hotel in Lahore for the rest and night stay.

Day 6Katas Raj Temple - Rohtas Fort - Islamabad

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Drive to Islamabad, by the way visiting:
– Rohtas Fort, a 16th-century fortress and was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1997;
– Katas Raj Temples: historical records suggest that construction of the complex dates back to the 3rd century BC.
☼ Transfer to Islamabad to the guest house for the rest and night stay.

Day 7Islamabad & Taxila

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Excursion in Islamabad: Faisal Mosque (the largest mosque in Pakistan), Lok Virsa heritage complex ( a museum of history and showcasing living culture of Pakistan).
☼ Visiting Buddhist complex in Taxila, near 25 km far from Islamabad. In 1980 Taxila was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
☼ Transfer back to Islamabad.
☼ Dinner at a traditional Pakhtoon style restaurant at Said Pur village.
☼ Night stay in the guest house in Islamabad.

Day 8Peshawar

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Transfer to Peshawar.
☼ Excursion in the city for photo walk: old Bala Hissara Fort, old city with Sunehri Mosque, Mohabbat Khan Mosque, Qissa Khawani Bazaar and peshawari green tea – qawa, Edwardes College and Islamic College like a bright British style architecture, Peshawar Museum (worth seeing place to peep into 2000 years back civilization back yard).
☼ Transfer to the guest house for the rest and night.

Day 9Mardan - Takht-i-Bahi - Swat

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Transfer to Mardan, visiting Mardan Museum of Buddhism.
☼ Drive to Takhti-Bahi Buddha complex, Mardan District, an Icon of the Ancient Buddhist Civilization: Tantra Buddha Monastery. Takht-i-Bahi was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1980.
☼ Transfer to Mingora, Swat Valley for night stay.

Day 10Swat

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Visiting Swat museum, a well worth visit, having an ample amount of Ghandhara sculptures and the sites well arranged to describe the Buddha life.
☼ Visiting Gandhara civilization ruins at nearby places.
☼ Transfer back to the hotel.

Day 11Chitral

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Transfer to Dir, visiting museum. The museum is based on the history of Dir which is most important both historically and culturally and the history goes back to the 2nd millennium BC.
☼ Transfer to Chitral.
☼ Night stay in Chitral in the guest house.

Day 12Kalash Valley

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Drive to Bir (Rumbur) Kalsh Valley.
☼ Photo walk in the valleys to experience life and living of Kalash people. Kalash people is a small community of pagans that is still on the territory of Islamic state.
☼ Night stay in the village in the guest house.

Day 13Islamabad

☼ Breakfast.
☼ Transfer to Islamabad.
☼ Night stay in the guest house in Islamabad.

Day 14Islamabad
